Dodge City – Clare Francis Shriwise, 86, died June 25, 2012 at his home in Dodge City.
He was born September 15, 1925, in Jetmore, the son of Frank and Seraphine Schauvliege Shriwise. A lifetime area resident he was a farmer/stockman.
He was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, The Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Knights Of Columbus, and the American Legion, all of Jetmore. He served in the United States Navy. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame, Cum Laude in Electrical Engineering.
On September 4, 1948, he married Julia Elizabeth Irsik, in Dodge City. She survives.
Other Survivors include: five sons, Rod, Overland Park, Dr. Tom and wife Celina, Overland Park, Sid and wife Mary Catherine, Dodge City, Mike and wife Cindy, Jetmore, John, Dallas, Texas; a brother, Wayne, Riverside, California; fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathryn Shriwise and Martha Heck; a granddaughter, Nikki Shriwise.
Vigil will be at 7p.m. Friday at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Jetmore, with Father Benjamin Dande presiding. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City, with Father Ted Skalsky presiding. Visitation will be from 9a.m. to 8p.m. Thursday and 9a.m. to 5p.m. Friday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore, with Military Graveside rites Conducted by American Legion Chester Hawkins Post 290.
