(Garden City, KS) (westernkansasnews.com) A Garden City High School sophomore has taken 7th place in the National History Day Contest that was held earlier this month in College Park, Maryland. It’s a prestigious honor for student Erendira Jiminez-Gonzales who has competed in the contest before.
School District spokesperson Roy Cessna says that Jiminez-Gonzales was recognized for her website: “Death of an Empire, Birth of a Republic: The Modernization of Turkey.” Jiminez was the only student from western Kansas to make it to the national competition. Prior to that, the studious sophomore took first place in the Kansas State History Day competition held in Topeka last April.
