Beckstrom

(Garden City, KS) (westernkansasnews.com)

Friday marked 5-weeks to the day since a Garden City man was killed by a hit and run driver on Taylor at Jenny and the search for the suspect continues.  Garden City Police Sergeant Michael Reagle says investigators are soliciting the public’s help in identifying the driver and vehicle that struck 37-year old John Beckstrom.  Beckstrom died at the hospital just days after being hit.

Reagle says police are certain that someone in the area the night of the incident has information that will help crack the case.  There was a report of a gold colored pickup truck chasing the suspect vehicle after it struck Beckstrom.  The driver of the pickup truck that gave chase has never been identified and hasn’t come forward.  Initial reports also indicated that the vehicle that crashed into Beckstrom’s Harley Davidson may have been a blue or aqua colored 4-door Honda sedan with tinted windows and specialty rims.  Reagle says any information on the case from the public is welcome.  Video from surveillance cameras from the night of the incident shows several people in the area of the intersection at the time of the wreck.  Reagle stresses that even seemingly insignificant information on the incident may be beneficial to police.  Tips may be provided anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at (620) 275-7807 or by texting GCTIP and tips to 847411.
