An Independence, Kansas man was booked into Finney County Jail on Friday after allegedly beating his dog so severely at the Sunflower Inn and Suites on Fulton Street in Garden City that the animal suffered a broken rear leg, fractured or broken pelvic bone, and other undetermined injuries.
Garden City Police Sergeant Michael Reagle says that 42-year old Eric Christian Fobian was reportedly intoxicated when he learned his dog had run off. When the dog returned Fobian allegedly took it back to his motel room where he beat it severely, breaking the animal’s bones. Reagle says the dog will likely have to be put down due to the extent of its injuries. Fobian was arrested and lodged in the Finney County Jail on allegations of cruelty to animals, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. His bond was set at $5-thousand.
