Kansas has a tradition of patriotism that extends as far back as its establishment as a state in 1861. That patriotism and support for active military personnel and Veterans will be on full display Friday and Saturday during the Jax Hearts and Heroes Poker Run and Music Festival at Jax Sports Grille on Mary Street. A variety of fun events and activities, including a Poker Run on Saturday, are scheduled to raise money for Hearts and Heroes Hunts and to establish a scholarship for the children of combat wounded soldiers to pursue a post-high school education. Hearts and Heroes Hunts bring veterans and their families together for three nights of lodging, two days of hunting, and a whole lot of camaraderie.
Jax General manager Lindsey Becker says there will be a variety of bands, a live DJ, bikini contest, oil wrestling and more starting Friday afternoon through closing time on Saturday night.
