Garden City Police have confirmed that a motorcyclist severely injured by a hit and run driver at the intersection of Taylor and Jenny Avenues on May 25th has succumbed to his injuries and died at Via Christi Hospital in Wichita.
Police spokesman Michael Reagle says John Beckstrom was struck by an unidentified vehicle while riding his Harley Davidson at approximately 10:30 p.m. Beckstrom was flown Via Christi with severe head trauma. He died before dawn Wednesday morning.
Reagle says officers did receive a report that a motorist in a gold colored pickup truck may have chased the suspect vehicle as it fled the accident scene. Reagle says that investigators would like to talk the driver of the pickup truck or anyone who may have been at the intersection when the accident occurred. Police would also like to locate and interview the driver of a blue or turquoise 4-door Honda sedan that was seen in the area around the time of the incident.
Plans for a memorial and benefit for Beckstrom’s family are underway.
