Construction continues on schedule at the new Garden City High School, slated to be completed by the first day of school on August 22nd. Work is underway right now on the stadium, stadium seats, and erection of the Jumbotron message board. School District spokesperson Roy Cessna says one change at Garden City High School this year will be a closed campus during lunch. Last year Junior and Senior High School students were allowed to leave campus during the lunch break but school district officials decided to change that policy at the new campus.
Unified School District-457 Board members will meet on July 9th and are expected to approve a new district wide policy for students and staff regarding the use of cell phones and other electronic devices. Board members are also likely to begin establishing goals for the new school year at that meeting.
