The City of Garden City is looking for residents interested in serving on its advisory boards and commissions. Openings currently exist on the Environmental Issues Board, the Traffic Advisory Board and the Airport Advisory Board.
The Environmental Issues Board advises the City Commission on a number of environmental issues including air quality, recycling, energy conservation, water conservation, water quality and solid waste management. The Environmental Issues Board meets the third Thursday of every month at 6 p.m.
The Traffic Advisory Committee advises the City Commission with regard to vehicle and pedestrian traffic control within the community. The Board hears issues regarding street signage, parking, speed limits, sight vision triangles, school zones and crosswalks, among others. The Board’s meetings are scheduled for the first Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
The Airport Advisory Board studies all phases of the present and future operation, expansion, planning, and management of all facilities at the Garden City Regional Airport and makes appropriate recommendations to the City Commission. The board meets the second Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m.
