A two-vehicle crash involving a cement truck and an SUV mucked up the 
intersection of Jones Avenue and VFW Road at approximately 7:35 Friday morning. The preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the cement truck was eastbound on Jones Avenue and turning right onto VFW Road when for an unknown reason the truck collided with an SUV that was at the stop sign on VFW Road facing north on the south side of Jones Avenue.
The cement truck overturned into the ditch area after slamming into the SUV and at least one person in the truck had to be extricated with the Jaws of Life by Garden City firefighters. The impact also smashed in the windshield of the SUV. The extent and number of people injured in the wreck remains under investigation.
