Rumor mill aside, the Kansas State Republican Party has not endorsed either Reynaldo Mesa or John Doll in the state legislative Primary Election for the 123rd District.  Mesa surprised many election watchers last week when he formally announced he was withdrawing from the Republican Primary to devote his energy to his fulltime position as Executive Director of the Garden City Chamber of Commerce.  Rumors that the state party was unhappy about Doll being the lone candidate left in the race and that the state party wouldn’t endorse him in the General Election were false according to Kansas State Republican Party Executive Director Clay Barker.

Barker says state law does allow the party to spend up to $500 on an individual candidate in a contested primary election, but that did not occur in the race between Mesa and Doll.  Mesa’s name will still appear on ballots.

Barker adds that the state part will endorse Doll if he wins the Primary Election.
