ToDistribute Backpacks

Garden City PublicSchools Learning Services Supplemental Office will hold a backpack distributionevent from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 2nd, atStevens Park in downtown Garden City.  The event helps to provide migrantstudents with backpacks and supplies to help them get ready for the upcomingschool year.

The Migrant ParentAdvisory Council, which is part of the district’s Migrant EducationProgram, helps to provide items for the event.

The first day of school is Wednesday,August 22, with a half-day orientation for all students in kindergarten throughfifth grade, seventh-grade, ninth-grade and all students new to Garden CityPublic Schools.  There will be no school in the afternoon for a workdayfor teachers.

The first full day of school for GardenCity Public Schools is Thursday, August 23, 2012.  All classes will be in sessionfor the start of the 2012-13 school year.
