When USD-457 School District officials unveil the brand new Garden City High School during its dedication on August 31st, it will be the culmination of at least four years of planning and hard work by a dedicated team of school district leaders, board members, and staff.
The community that resides within the school district approved the District’s Long-Range Facility Plan on November 5th, 2008. The plan called for the establishment of a new High School, thanks to the approval of an approximate $100-million bond to finance the new, state of the art facility. School District Superintendent Dr. Rick Atha says he plan should be fully implemented by 2015.
The new High School features various academies for student learning, new, larger classrooms, and a new football field with greatly expanded stadium seating capable of accommodating 4-thousand spectators and a Jumbotron video screen.
The dedication ceremony will take place at the Garden City High School Commons Area at 2720 Buffalo Way Boulevard. The dedication will be followed by the first football game of the season at the new stadium at 7 p.m.
