USD-457 School Board Selects New President, Discusses Goals

Garden City’s USD-457 Board of Education has selected Jean Clifford as its new President and Tom Blackburn as its Vice-President.  The selections were made during the school board’s regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday night.

Board members also pored over the school districts’ 4-core goals and myriad sub goals as staff and faculty prepare for the new school year.  The district’s core goals are to:  continue to raise academic standards for all students; provide effective management of district resources; continue to refine processes to improve communication; provide a support structure that will maximize learning in a safe, orderly, and healthy environment. 

There are a total of 18 sub goals that fall under the umbrella of the main goals.

Board members also heard a brief overview of the proposed $49-million budget for the district.  The district employs approximately 700 certified staff and faculty members as well as a variety of noncertified positions.
