A vacancy has arisen on the Dodge City Commission in the wake of the resignation of Michael Weece. Dodge City Public Information Officer Jane Longmeyer says Weece was first appointed to fill a vacancy on the Commission in 2011, and then successfully ran for office last April, getting elected to a four year term. Whoever the City Commission selects to replace him will serve out the duration of Weece’s term in 2016. Weece decided to step down from the Commission after accepting a new job in Topeka.
Longmeyer says that any Dodge City resident who is a registered to vote can apply for the vacancy. Letters of interest should be submitted by August 14th to the City Manager. Letters of interest can be hand delivered or mailed to the City Manager, P.O. Box 880, Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
