Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August   01, 2012 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Rev Scott Schurle   officiating.

Interment:   Valley View Cemetery in Garden City,

Memorial contributions may be   given to Harry H. Renick American Legion Post # 9 in care of Garnand Funeral   Home.

Donald E. Blackman, age 72,   died Sunday, July 29, 2012 at St Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was   born September 4, 1939 at Walla Walla, Washington the son of Everett   Washington & Dorothy Mae (Russell) Blackman. Donald married Helen L. Hoyt   on July 15, 1995 at Garden City.

Donald enlisted in the U.S.   Army when he was 17 years old. He served 21 years in the service and was   mainly stationed in Germany. He retired as a Staff Sergeant. He moved to   Finney County in 1993 and worked in various agriculture areas. He enjoyed   reading, tinkering with projects and flying. Donald was a member of Harry H.   Renick American Legion Post # 9, John J. Haskell V.F.W. Post # 2279, and 377   EAA Flying Club

Survivors include his wife,   Helen L. Hoyt-Blackman of the home; five children, Brian Blackman of Garden   City, Keith Blackman of Fort Hood, Texas, Miles Blackman of Missouri,   Christiene Gabel of Mt Carrol, Illinois, Sherri Tresmer of Kent, Illinois;   three step-children, Mike Hoyt of Garden City, Ann McDowell of Garden City,   Pat Hoyt of Rhome, Texas; two brothers, Charles Blackman of New Lisbon,   Wisconsin, Timothy Blackman of Gackle, North Dakota; sister, Susie Saggert of   Mauston, Wisconsin; and numerous grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-son Mark Hoyt   & sister- Rosalie.
