The Primary Election is Tuesday and there have been no shortage of candidates seeking office in Southwest Kansas.
There are several contested races in Ford County’s Primary Election. Competing in the race to represent the 2nd District on the County Commission are Chris Boys, Michael Burkhart, and Rebecca Escalante. In District 3, Danny Gillum, Morris Reeves, Charles Sellens, and Terry Williams are vying for the office. The race to become Ford County Attorney includes Daniel Arkell, Terry Malone, and Natalie Randall. The competition to become Ford County’s next Sheriff includes Lee Hawes and Dean Bush. Clerk Sharon Seibel, Treasurer Debra Pennington, and Register of deeds Brenda Pogue are running unopposed.
There are also a variety of candidates seeking statewide offices. Garrett Love and Johnny Dunlap are competing in the race for the State Senate’s 38th District. Rondald Ryckman and Mo Gilbert are running the race for State Representative of the 115th District. Mitchell Rucker, John Unruh, John Ewy, and Dennis McKinney are hoping to represent the state’s 117th District, and Brian Webber and Larry Blake are competing in the race to represent the 119th District.
