After several years of planning, organizing, and putting in the elbow grease to make those plans comes to fruition, the brand new Garden City High School will open its doors to students for the first time ever next week. USD-457 School District spokesperson Roy Cessna says school district officials will be welcoming the public to the new state of the art, $100-million facility with two community tours. The first community tour of the new High School will be held this Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon, and the second tour of the new high school will take place on Friday, August 24th, starting at 5 p.m. The new school is located at 2720 Buffalo way Boulevard off of Mary Street. A new traffic signal was recently installed at the intersection.
The new high school features various academies for student learning, new, larger classrooms, and a new football field with greatly expanded stadium seating capable of accommodating 4-thousand spectators and a Jumbotron video screen.
A dedication ceremony will take place at the Garden City High School Commons Area on August 31st. The dedication will be followed by the first football game of the season at the new stadium at 7 p.m.
