KDOT officials have just announced plans to reduce its workforce. Kansas Department of Transportation spokesperson Steve Swartz says the plan will impact about 40 headquarters positions, which is less than 5 percent of headquarters staff. Transportation Secretary Mike King says that there are no plans at this time for additional layoffs.
Swartz says the current plan will not impact KDOT employees in Garden city and Dodge City, but future layoffs are always possible.
