KDOT, Recycling & Resurfacing on Highway-50

Motorists travelling between Garden City and Syracuse will experience delays of up to 15-minutes this week as worker resurface Highway-50.  KDOT spokesperson Kirk Hutchinson says workers will be utilizing a whole lot of equipment some unique methodology for maintenance and resurfacing operations on the busy thoroughfare that connects Kansas to Colorado.  Hutchinson says it is a two-phase project, beginning with recycling the top two inches of asphalt surface followed by overlaying a thin asphalt layer. 

Hutchinson says that traffic will be limited to one lane through the work zone, guided by a pilot car. Drivers can expect delays of 15 minutes or less. He urges drivers to be alert, pay attention to all work zone warning signs, slow down when approaching a work zone and be prepared to stop.
