Adela Marez Fonseca, 76, of Garden City, Kansas died Monday, October 15, 2012 at Garden Valley Retirement Village. She was born November 29, 1935 in Menard, Texas the daughter of Narciso and Estafana (DeLeon) Marez.
Visitation: 9:00 a.m. and until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 19, 2012 at the Cornerstone Church in Garden City, Kansas with Pastor Neil Burum officiating.
The family request memorials be given to Adela M. Fonseca Memorial fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
Adela’s family lived in Brownfield, Texas. She married Ismael M. Fonseca on July 28, 1951 in Brownfield, Texas. They moved to Holcomb, Kansas in 1965 and to Garden City, Kansas in 1973. She was a member of Cornerstone Church. She enjoyed dancing, singing, cooking and having family gatherings
Survivors include her son, Oscar Fonseca of Dodge City; five daughters, Mary Reyes of Dodge City, Sylvia Abundiz of Dodge City, Noemi Estrada of Garden City, Anamarie Lopez of Garden City, Cynthia Dominguez of Dodge City; two brothers, Sotero Marez of Garden City, Manuel Marez of Orange County, California; two sisters, Seniada Torres of Garden City, Margarita Tapia of Brownfield, Texas; 29 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ismael Fonseca on October 7, 1993; two sons, Albert and Armando Fonseca; and a grandson, Johnny.
