Dodge City Sante Fe Depot Preservation Renovations Kick Off

Preservation work on the historic Dodge City Sante Fe Depot has begun with the removing and replacement of the mortar binding the pink sandstone, to be followed by the restoration of windows, doors, soffits and downspouts, all projects slated for 2013 along with removing and replacing some of the fractured stones.

The remortar project is expected to be completed this week.  Total cost of the stone restoration portion of the project is 1324 thousand dollars and is being funded in part by the tourism task force and Main Street Dodge City along with some historic rehabilitation tax credits and the Mariah Fund.
