For the past few days Garden City Police have been investigating multiple businesses who reported they were given counterfeit $100.00 bills.

During the investigation of these incidents, officers identified 20 year old Chaston Tarwater of Garden City as a person who was allegedly selling counterfeit $100.00 bills.  On November 16, officers stopped a vehicle Tarwater was in and found him in possession of two counterfeit $100.00 bills.

Tarwater is being held in the Finney County Jail in lieu of 25 thousand dollars bond as the investigation continues.

Garden City Police is encouraging all businesses in Garden City to take extra precaution when receiving large denomination bills. For more information on how to identify counterfeit bills, please visit www.secretservice.gov.
