Knoxville, Tenn. (westernkansasnews.com)–Carl Hall had 21 points and nine boards, but it wasn’t enough, as the 23rd ranked Wichita state shockers suffered their first defeat of the year in a 69-60 loss to the Tennessee Volunteers Thursday night in Knoxville. Scott City product Ron Baker ended up with six points and four rebounds in 29 minutes of playing time.

Wichita State had a 59-58 lead with just under four minutes remaining, but the Volunteers (5-3) would close the game on an 11-1 run, and would down the Shockers (9-1), who were going for their first ever 10-0 start.

WSU will return home to host Charleston Southern next Thursday night.
