Holcomb summer football camp–Audio

Holcomb, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-For some teenagers, the start of the new school year signifies the end of their so-called freedom. For varsity football players, the second week of August can’t get here fast enough.

Coming off a 9-2 campaign in 2012, the Holcomb Longhorns are making it their personal mission to have the month of July permanently erased from the calendar. Why?

“We won nine games and lost in the playoffs; that’s all that matters,” Head Coach Jerry Johnson said. “We’re ready to go.”

His players echo those sentiments.

“I’m ready to go as soon as possible,” said junior fullback Blake Richmeier, who’s coming off a season that saw him carry the ball 26 times for 169 yards. “I’m ready to be playing in front of those Friday night lights.”

Sports Director Mike Pilosof caught up with Richmeier and Corey Roth Thursday night during summer camp.
