Postseason hopes in doubt

Derby, Ks (westernkansasnews)-Every game is a playoff game now for Dodge City. With that thought firmly sketched in their minds, the A’s let an early advantage dissipate-falling to Derby 6-4 at Panther Field on Thursday night.

After the A’s staked a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st, Derby would go on the offensive just an inning later. Dylan Boston led off the 2nd with a single up the middle. Then an error and base hit loaded the bases for Cody Robinson. The Twins Designated Hitter took the first offering from Ty Thomas and smashed a grand slam over the center-field wall, which put Derby in front 4-2.

Dodge City (8-17) would draw even in the 4th when Dillon Englehart’s sacrifice fly scored Jordan Slaton.

Derby (12-16) didn’t take long to grab the lead back. With two outs in the 5th, Kyle Bilbrey belted a solo home run off of A’s reliever Cody Brown.

The Twins would add an insurance run in the 8th.

Next up: Dodge City vs. Hays 7 pm Monday at Cavalier Field
