City Water Rate Hike Likely On The Way

Garden City, Ks. (westernkansasnews)

Due to Wheatland Electric announcing a 39% rate hike on treated water earlier this year, Garden City residents will more than likely see a probable 5 dollar rate increase in their monthly water bill according to City Public Utilities Director Mike Muirhead.

The Wheatland Increase was scheduled to take effect on August first, but a review of the unusually high increase is now being reviewed by the Kansas Corporation Commission causing a possible delay in the increase until closer toward the end of the month.

In other commission news, the governing body approved the semi-annual report for the CDBG Revolving Loan Fund as well as approving the final draft of the downtown master plan.
