Earl Stanley “Hop” Tackett, age 80, died Thursday, September 19, 2013 at his home in Kearny County. He was born January 17, 1933 at Lakin, the son of Earl & Bessie Ellen (Wells) Tackett. Earl married Lora Bell on October 22, 1950 at Deerfield.

Earl was a lifetime resident of Kearny County and a 1952 graduate of Deerfield High School. He had worked at Archer Daniels Hay Mill and KN energy for 17 years before going into farming. He enjoyed riding his motorcycles, restoring old cars, playing cards, bowling and his annual February trout fishing trip to Branson. Earl was a member of United Methodist Church of Deerfield, Charter

Member of Deerfield Lions Club, Boy Scout Leader, Lakin Gun Club, Deerfield Brotherhood, Gold Wing Motorcycle Club, and Roadrunners Motorcycle Club. He was preceded in death by his Parents, 1 Son- Stanley Tackett, 1 Brother- Robert Tackett & 1 Grandson- Josh Tackett.

Survivors include his Wife, Lora Tackett of their home; 2 Sons, David Tackett of Buda, Texas, Kerry Tackett of Deerfield; Brother, Doug Tackett of Deerfield; Sister, Myrtle Goetz of Kingman; 9 Grandchildren, and 8 Great-Grandchildren.

Visitation: 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday , at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at United Methodist Church in Deerfield with Rev Phil Morris officiating.

Interment: Deerfield Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to United Methodist Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
