Roadblocks to Building a Healthier Community

Liberal, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Every community has different health needs, but how do you find out what to work on. The Liberal Area Coalition for Families is using the survey from the Robert Wood Foundation and University of Wisconsin which rated overall health factors for counties across the US.  Coalition member Sarah Foreman says when compared to the rest of Kansas, Seward County did not stack well.

Foreman’s co-worker Susan Lukwago identified two areas where they have struggled.

There is one area that the Liberal Coalition for Families can work on and that is obesity.

Foreman says finding health providers can be more difficult.

Seward County ranked 93rd out of the 98 counties that participated in the health assessment.
