Sarah Lucille Willis, age 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 5, 2014.  at the St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas.

She was born on January 30, 1919 in St. John, Kansas the daughter of Fred and Edith Yocum Cavemder. She grew up in St. John and after graduating High School she attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. While attending college she met the love of her life, Leroy E. “Bud” Willis. They were married on April 15, 1943 in McMinnville, TN.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years on Dec. 14, 1993, her parents, two sisters and four brothers. She is survived by her son, Rod Willis and wife Dorothy of Garden City, Kansas; Two Granddaughters, Deidra Haupt and husband Brent of Scott City, Kansas and Emily Buller and husband Dave of Topeka, Kansas; A Nephew, Fred Spry of Fayetteville, AR and a niece, Betty Alderman of Stockdale, TX, who lived in her home during their growing up years; One Sister, Dorothy Brenn of Onalaska, WA and numerous other nephews and nieces.

During the early years of her marriage she was a homemaker and later went on to complete the requirements to be ordained as a Minister in the Assemblies of God. She pastored a small rural church in Sharon, Kansas for many years serving the Lord she loved.

In November of 2001, she moved to Garden City from Medicine Lodge to be near her son. She enjoyed her years at Homestead Assisted Living where she made many new friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 in the St. John Cemetery with the Rev. Nathan Sheridan officiating.

Friends may call from 10:00am until 8:00pm on Monday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas.

Memorials may be given to Rural Compassion or to St. Catherine Hospice both in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City, Kansas.
