A’s offensive woes continue; fall to Hays

Hays, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-Dodge City coach Phil Stephenson was hoping this summer would be better than last. Unfortunately through seven games, things look eerily similar to the collapse of 2013.

Hays hurler David Koll was in command all night-allowing just one hit in five innings of work while the offense pounded out 14 hits in an 11-1 rout of the A’s at Larks Park Tuesday night.

Dodge City’s (1-6) lone run came in the top of the first on Dalton Thomas’s sacrifice fly. He also provided the A’s only hit: a lead-off single in the top of the sixth.

Ty Detmer’s sacrifice fly tied the game in the bottom of the first. From there it was all Larks. They added a run in the second, third and fourth innings before exploding for six in the fifth.

Dodge City starter Matt Ray was chased after just 3.1 innings of work after allowing three runs on six hits.
