Rebecca ‘Becky’ Lee (Smith) Minor

Rebecca ‘Becky’ Lee (Smith) Minor, 59, of Spearville, Kansas, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015 after suffering a massive stroke. 

Becky was born in Topeka, Kansas on March 11, 1955. She graduated from Seaman High School in 1973, Brown Mackie College in 1975, Fort Hays State University in 1999 and then earned her Masters of Social Work Degree from Newman University in 2008. Becky retired from the State of Kansas in July of 2014. 

Becky married Jerry Minor of Minneola, Kansas on November 30, 1974. They celebrated 40 years of marriage this past November. 

She enjoyed reading, and playing her dulcimer with Jerry at Fort Dodge. Becky loved children of all ages and through her years of volunteering in her church, serving 5 years as Mission Friends Consultant for KNCSB WMU, and her loyal devotion in her workplaces, Becky’s legacy lives on through the hundreds of lives she impacted. 

Becky is survived by her step-mother Pat Smith of Bloomfield, Kentucky, brothers Stephen (Edie) Smith of Topeka, Tom (Brenda) Smith of Lawrence, Jeff (Janice) Smith of Topeka and sisters Mari (Dave) Parker of Manhattan, Julie (Dan) Hundley of Byron, Georgia, Melinda (Terry) Wolfgang of Bailey, Colorado, and step-brother Mike Massek of New Albany, Indiana and step-sister Sue Massek of Willisburg, Kentucky. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews. 

Becky is preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Loretta Smith of Topeka, Kansas. 

A memorial service will be held at First Southern Baptist Church in Dodge City, Kansas on Wednesday February 11, 2015 at 10:00AM with Chad Rhoades presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday February 10, 2015 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place.
