Paul Daniel Ohmes, 71 died Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City. He was born November 13, 1943 in Garden City the son of Daniel & Agnes (Englert) Ohmes.

Paul grew up in southern Finney County, Kansas. After attended Seminary in Ohio for a couple of years, Paul returned to Garden City where he graduated from Garden City High School. In 1968, he married Diane Nelson in Garden City, Kansas. Paul worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for more than 15 years. He then became a Registered Nurse and worked for the next 25 years at St. Catherine Hospital. During his time at St. Catherine Hospital, he worked as Registered Nurse on 3 North and later became a charge nurse. Paul was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed reading, gardening, and playing with his cats.

Survivors include a daughter Maria Dykes of Brackenridge, Pennsylvania; three sisters Theresa Morgan of Garden City; Sarah Gerber of Wichita, Kansas, and Barbara Dinges of Holdrege, Nebraska; a grandson Brady Dykes of Tyler, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers John Ohmes and Richard Ohmes; and a sister Mary Zeorlin.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 19 also at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Seiwert as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family requests memorials given to St. Mary Catholic Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
