Red Demons hire new baseball coach (Audio)

Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-The Dodge City High School Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Zach Shipley as the new Head Baseball coach of the Red Demons – pending Board of Education approval at the next scheduled meeting.

Shipley has spent the past two seasons as the Head Coach at Russell High School, taking them to the State Tournament in his first season (2014). He is also the Head Coach of the Senior Legion baseball program in Russell.

Zach Shipley is a former First-Team, All-State Red Demon player (1996-99), and played on the 1999 State Championship team. He still holds DCHS single season school records for Home Runs (9, T-Ryan Staten, ’99); Hits (45, T-Ryan Staten, ’99); Doubles (12, T-Willie Tresner, ’01); and RBI’s (47). He is also the career record holder for Hits (99), Doubles (24), RBI’s (87), and Hitting Streak (27 games).

Shipley played for Mike Jones at Dodge City Community College before transferring to play at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Shipley has a BS in General Studies from ASU.
