Charles “Charlie” Spencer

Charles “Charlie” Spencer, 68, died Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita. 

He was born December 25, 1946 at Searcy, Arkansas, the son of Thomas David and Ida Mae (Jones) Spencer. His family moved to Dodge City when he was 7 years old. He received his Masters of Science in Informational Systems from Friends University in Wichita. He worked as an inspector for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment until retiring in 2011. After retirement, he worked for Fresenius Dialysis. 

He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church, Dodge City. He enjoyed building computers, hunting and fishing and made his own bow and arrows. 

On December 6, 1969 he married Myrlin Soy at the Bible Baptist Church in Dodge City. 

Survivors include: his wife, Wichita; his son, Thomas Spencer and wife Christina, Wentzville, Missouri; 2 granddaughters, Caya and Charlie Spencer; and 2 nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Joshua Spencer and a brother, James Spencer. 

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, with Pastor Albert Shrock officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City. Visitation will be from Noon to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
