GC Elite swept at AAA State Tournament

McPherson, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-For the second time in three years, Garden City’s AAA legion team made an early exit from the state tournament. 

On Wednesday night, the Elite dropped a one-run decision to Ottawa 4-3. They followed that up with a 7-5 loss to Newton in an elimination game Thursday morning. 

“We have done the same thing all summer long,” Head Coach Lyle Befort said afterwards. “We get off to these horrific starts. Today we just made way too many mistakes.”

Four errors cost them against Newton, an area that has been the Elite’s Achilles heel all season.
