Larrall Wayne Wellmaker

Larrall Wayne Wellmaker, 62, of Lakin, Kansas went to meet the Lord and left his earthly-bound body to join his beloved father, Joe Wellmaker, in heaven on July 31, 2015.
Larrall was born on June 3, 1953, to Joe and Nina (Dillon) Wellmaker in Elkhart, Kansas where he joined a growing family that would eventually include 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Larrall was a long time resident of Lakin and attended Lakin High School, graduating in 1971. In 1972 Larrall enlisted in the Army where he was stationed in Germany and served his country as a Military Policeman, Sergeant First-Class, until 1974. After returning to the states Larrall met and married Terri Schiffelbein and to this union a lovely daughter, Heather, was born.
Larrall enjoyed fishing, golf, and hanging out with his friends and family. He loved to tell stories and you could be sure that 50% of every story was true. You just never knew which 50% and you had to decide what to believe. He was always ornery and quite the character. Traits mostly inherited from his father and grandfather on the Wellmaker side; the rest coming from his mother’s side of the family.
Larrall was preceded in death by his father, Joe Wellmaker, who passed away in November of 1999. Survivors include his mother, Nina, also of Lakin. Brothers: Calvin of Lena, Wisconsin, Troy of Casper, Wyoming, and Jimmy of Dodge City, Kansas. Sisters: Norma Unruh (Mike) of Morrow, Ohio and Becky Brouhard (Bill) of Andover, Kansas. Larrall was very proud of his surviving daughter Heather Zaldana, his son-in-law, Aaron, and their five beautiful boys: Joshua (20), Jonathan (10), Jacob (8), Jaden (7), and Gabriel (4). He is also survived by a very large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews.
Everyone who remembers him is asked to celebrate Larrall’s life in their own way and raising a glass to his memory.
A memorial service with military honors conducted by the Kansas Army Reserve National Guard will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Lakin, Kansas with Dr. Kenne Whitson officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 3rd at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin. The family requests memorial donations made to the Larrall Wellmaker Memorial Fund in care of the Garnand Funeral Home.
