Jennings Calls For Changes to the Way Kansas Taxes

Lakin, KS (westernkansasnews.com) This year the state to fill a 400 million dollar budget hole raised sales tax from 6.15 to 6.5% percent. Whether that has made a difference remains unclear, in many places when county tax is added people are paying close to nine percent or more for each purchase they make. State Representative Russ Jennings of Lakin thinks the time has come to re-examine our tax structure.

Jennings is an advocate to repeal the sales tax on food since these are items of necessity and has created part of this inequity in our tax structure.
