He was born December 2, 1946 at Walters, Oklahoma, the son of Floyd Alfred and Vera Mae (Lawson) Dunbar. A Dodge City resident since 1981, moving from Garden City and Gray County, he was a supervisor at Cargill in Dodge City until retiring. He later worked as an assembler at Curtis Machine in Dodge City. He enjoyed airplanes, guns, hunting, fishing, collecting, drawing, photography and working on cars. 

He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War attaining the rank of Sergeant. 

He married Patricia Warren and they later divorced. On December 6, 1996 he married Dorothy McGinnes at Dodge City. She preceded him in death on August 9, 2006. 

Survivors include: his daughter, Michelle Dunbar, Dodge City; and 5 grandchildren, Nathaniel Dunbar, Chelsie Dunbar, Francisco Villa, Garrett Salem and Dyamond Salem. 

He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Kenneth and a granddaughter, Mariah Villa. 

Private services will be held at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Dodge with Rev. Dick Robbins officiating and full military honors by Howard Gotschall VFW Post 1714 and Military Honors for the State of Kansas. There will be no public viewing. 

The family suggests memorials to the Kansas Soldiers Home in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
