Walter Schmidt, 91, died November 26, 2015 at Bethel Home in Montezuma. He was born on February 28, 1924 at Chickasha, Oklahoma, the son of Peter B. and Anna (Koehn) Schmidt. 

Walter attended school at Valley View School in Chickasha. He married Nadine Bartlett on August 22, 1947 in Chickasha. She survives. Walter worked at various jobs including jobs in a meat processing plant and as a mechanic. Farming was his love and he valued the farm life. Walter farmed and milked cows for about 50 years until he retired in 2007. He and Nadine moved to Bethel Home in Montezuma in 2012. 

He was a member of the Plainview Mennonite Church in Chickasha. 

Those left to cherish the memories include his wife Nadine of Montezuma; two children, Phillip Schmidt and wife Barbara of Chickasha and Kathy Schmidt of Chickasha, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Dustin Schmidt and Rusty Schmidt; and nine great grandchildren. Walter is preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Jesse, Fred, John, Edd, Sam, Albert, and David Schmidt; and five sisters, Sadie, Lena, Susie, Eva, and Carolyn Schmidt. 

Funeral service will be held at Plainview Mennonite Church in Chickasha, Oklahoma on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 10:00 AM with Ministers Robert Schmidt, Kyle Ratzloff, and Carlin Smith presiding. Burial will follow at Plainview Mennonite Cemetery in Chickasha . Visitation will be at Bethel Home in Montezuma on Saturday, November 28, 2015 from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM.
