William J. “Bill” Sander

William J. “Bill” Sander, 68, died December 24, 2015 at KU Medical Center, Kansas City. He was born on August 9, 1947 at Spearville, the son of William Owen and Marianna (Heskamp) Sander. 

Bill grew up in Meade and graduated from Meade High School in 1966. On February 14, 1970 he married Judy Hornung at Windthorst. They lived in Liberal, Woodward, Oklahoma, and have resided in Cimarron for the past 28 years. He worked for the Community Bank of Liberal as vice president and retired five years ago.  

He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Knights of Columbus both of Dodge City. 

Bill is survived by his wife, Judy Sander of Cimarron; son, Austin Sander and wife Lyndsey of Wichita; daughter, Amber Jarnagin and husband Justin of Cimarron; six grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kennedy, and Karlee Jarnagin, Brynn, Brayden, and Blakely Sander; a brother, Dennis Sander and wife Judy of Liberal and sister, Anita Wills and husband Art of North Platte, Nebraska.He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Aaron and Adam and a brother, Danny Sander. 

Vigil Service will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Wesley Schawe presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery in Cimarron. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from Noon to 5:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Wichita Community Foundation (Forget Me Not in memory of Aaron Sander) in care of the funeral home.
