Stanley Lynn Unruh, 62, died December 31, 2015 at Trinity Manor Nursing Home in Dodge City. He was born on January 21, 1953 in Montezuma, the son of Elmer and Helen (Friesen) Unruh.

Stan was raised in Montezuma, graduating from Montezuma High School in 1971. He married his high school sweetheart, Derise Bryant on June 2, 1974 at the Ensign Methodist Church. They shared 41 years of marriage. They made their home in Dodge City where they raised their daughter. Stan worked for Erv’s Body Shop and then went to work at John’s Body Shop where he worked for 34 years. He retired in 2011. Stan was well known for his infectious laugh. He enjoyed traveling and cooking. His greatest achievement was achieving sobriety for 32 years.

Stan is survived by his wife Derise Unruh of Dodge City; a daughter, Stanna Unruh-Sparks and husband Patrick of Dodge City; one granddaughter, Hannah Sparks of Minneola; three siblings, Lennetta Nightengale and husband John of Phoenix, Arizona; Jay Unruh of Salina, and Kim Unruh and wife Marsha of Montezuma; three sisters-in-law, Gina Unruh of Montezuma, Delynda Keefe of Seminole, Florida; and Dee Fields of Bucklin; one brother-in-law, Jarry Bryant of Dodge City; and 10 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
