Summer court time looking to pay dividends for Scott City Volleyball

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–With summer weights and workouts coming close to ending, the Scott City Volleyball team wrapped up camp this week at Scott Community High School.

The first two days of summer camp, Fort Hays State University Head Coach Kurt Kohler, along with assistants and players on the Lady Tiger program, conducted camp for over 30 high school and over 40 middle school students.

Going into her third year as the head coach, Megan Gentry feels like her team has shown confidence, from their success in the Hays summer league, to morning workouts twice a week. The 2016 team will feature seven seniors and two juniors on varsity, with only one newcomer to the varsity. Experience will be at a high point, as a bulk of the team has played on the varsity level over the previous two years.

The nine varsity players will be participating in the KU team camp Monday through Wednesday. August 15 is the first day of practice, and their first competition is Friday, August 26 at a triangular in Oakley.
