Second time around could show improvement for Scott City Girls Golf

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The 2015 season was all new for the Scott City Lady Beaver Golf team. It had been the first time since 2008 that they had fielded a golf squad. With that came a partial schedule and limited knowledge of what to expect.

Enter 2016. Six girls, one new golfer, comprise of this year’s team, which is enough for a full squad. Rebecca Downing enters as a second year head coach for the Lady Beavers squad, and has two seniors, a junior, two sophomores and a freshman.

The girls say they’ve learned from last year’s season that saw its share of struggles, and feel comfortable about their second go-a-round.

As for this year, they have a full schedule, starting off with a trip to Hugoton September 1. Regionals are Monday, October 10, so the season is a quick one. Similar to girls tennis, the team won’t know its regional destination about two weeks prior to regionals, due to the release of classifications and regional host sites.
