Man From Dodge City Identified as Victim in Liberal Shooting Death

Liberal, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Saturday morning shortly before 11:30 authorities in Liberal were dispatched to a shooting on the 500 block of East Pancake.  Upon arrival officers found two men were shot a 24 year old who was later identified as Daniel Flores of Dodge City who died at the scene and a 20 year old man   who has since been treated and released from the hospital.

After further investigation, witnesses told officers that a dispute in a parking lot had occurred among several people prior to the shooting.  Witnesses then described the vehicles involved.

Later that afternoon around 5, sheriff investigators caught up with a 23 year old man Gilberto Flores-Ibarria at a residence in a rural part of Seward County whom they believed was responsible for the shooting.  He has been taken into custody without incident . 

All information in this case will be forwarded to the Seward County attorney in consideration of filing charges. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Liberal Police.
