Flora Cecilia Ricke
Flora Cecilia Ricke, 98, died Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains, Dodge City.
She was born June 15, 1918 at Medicine Lodge, Kansas the daughter of Eugene and Mary (Karlin) Schmidt. On March 26, 1940 she married Francis C. Ricke at Sharon Kansas.
Flora was a joyful, hardworking, loving servant of the lord. Alongside her beloved Francis she tirelessly worked to raise a large family while sharing in the daily demands of running their dairy farm.
She took pleasure in decorating beautiful cakes, dancing, singing, crocheting afgans, and tending her colorful flower beds.
She was a faithful member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, Wright where she was a sacristan and member of the Altar Society.
Survivors include: 3 sons, Allan Ricke, Dodge City, Gary Ricke and wife Peggy, Wright and Myron Ricke and wife Karen, Spearville; 4 daughters, Ellen Drouhard Oliver, Harper, Kansas, Dianne Durler, Wright, Kay Herrmann and husband Tom, Sherman, Texas and Annette Burkhart and husband Roger, Spearville; 28 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren.
Francis preceded her in death on June 27th, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son Cletus Ricke, and daughter Sharon Ricke. Flora was the last surviving child of 12.
Vigil service will be 7:30 pm Tuesday December, 6, 2016 at St. Andrew Church in Wright Kansas. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Wednesday December 7, 2016 at the church with Fr. Robert Schremmer presiding. Burial will follow in the St. Andrew Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
