Zoo Euthanizes Fifteen Year Old Mountain Lion “Payton”
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Officials at Lee Richardson Zoo are feeling a loss this morning after a member of their family was euthanized. General Curator Jordan Piha says popular mountain lion “Payton” health was in deep decline from severe chronic arthritis. Payton lived 15 years the median age for mountain lions is 13 ½. Two other female mountain lions remain at the zoo. Both “Bailey” and “Mika” are three years old.
