Myrtle Irene Lyon, 106, of Loveland, passed away on February 20, 2017 at North Shore Health and Rehab Center in Loveland, Colorado. She was born June 2, 1910 in Cimarron, to Charlie H. and Eleanor (Good) Henderson. 

She graduated from Cimarron High School in 1928. Myrtle married Amil Leroy Lyon Sr. on January 17, 1937 in Cimarron. Amil Sr. passed away May 3, 1957. She lived in Cimarron until 1995, at which time, she moved to Loveland, Colorado. She was a homemaker most of her life, but was a custodian at the Methodist Church in Cimarron for 22 years, where she was also a member. Myrtle enjoyed crocheting and word puzzles. Some of her favorite quotes were, “Wait and see,” and “Time will tell”. 

Myrtle is survived by two sons, Amil Jr. Lyon and wife DeeAnn and Melvin Lyon and wife Patricia; two daughters, Verena Sullivan and Maxine VanGundy and husband Bill; three sisters, Dorothy Kastens, Alice Robertson, and Rosalie Klocke, 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Amil Sr; three brothers, Albert, Everett and Robert; a grandson, Brad; and four sisters, Mary, Clarice, Stella and Edith.

Funeral service will be held at Cimarron United Methodist Church on Saturday February 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cimarron United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 108 N. 2nd Street, Cimarron, KS 67835.
