Richard C. Imel,96 , died March 10, 2017 at Brookdale Nursing Center in Dodge City. He was born on May 27, 1920 in rural Ford County, Kansas the son of Gilbert and Mary Christina (Schaffer) Imel. 

He married MaryErin Brody on January 16, 1943 in Scott City, Kansas, she preceded him in death on November 2, 2003. Mr. Imel loved farming and watching his crops grow as well as breaking horses and watching the Johnny Carson Show. He also enjoyed going to farm sales and Champs Auction on Friday nights. Mr. Imel loved spending time with his family and watching Monday Night Smack Down Wrestling. He also worked as a electrician for several years. 

He was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church in Spearville.

He is survived by one daughter Jeanette Perkins and husband Jim of Dodge City; four grandchildren John Imel, Brett Perkins, Brandon Perkins and Dustin Imel as well as eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents one daughter Mary Christina Imel, one son Richard Patrick Imel as well as two brothers and one sister.

Graveside service will be held at St. John’s Cemetery on Wednesday March 15, 2017 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 12:00 to 8:00 PM.
