Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) In a congressional district larger than the size of Illinois access to veterans healthcare can be extremely difficult. Senator Jerry Moran illustrated the demand of these VA clinics during a townhall in Garden City last week.
Moran believes veterans should not have to come to the VA, but instead the VA should bring services to them. This has been done in part by passing the choice act, but it did not come without some needling. Senator Moran notes a friend of his living outside Hays who needed a colonoscopy.
Now for this area the 40 mile rule has been waived, but Senator Moran is hopeful veterans will keep the pressure on so they can get the care they need in the place they want it.
