Tucker hired as new men’s bball coach at DC3

Dodge City, KS-Over the last few years, Dodge City men’s basketball has become one of the most consistent contenders in the Jayhawk Conference. That charge was led by Kyle Campbell.

When Campbell left earlier this year to become an assistant at Sam Houston State, Dodge City needed a new direction. And a week after announcing their new athletic director, the Conquistadors hired Steve Tucker to lead their men’s program.

“I’ve known about the Jayhawk League for a long time,” Tucker said. “I had a mutual friend who told me about the job. I applied, and it worked out.”

Tucker spent last season as the Head Coach and President of the Kentucky Mavericks; a franchise in the Premiere Basketball League. He’s also spent time at Phillips College and Sam Houston State.

“I wanted to coach college again,” Tucker said. “It’s ironic because when the owner of the Kentucky team decided to focus on things other than basketball, I was on the job market for the first time in a long time.”

Tucker sports a career record of 430-235.
